Data Dash

DataDash was Retro-esque Cyberpunk-themed webgame made in collaboration with Brandon Donini and Joshua Sabourin-Ekins. While the initial project was aimed at creating a game within a web browser, my contributions to this project were more so artistic than code oriented as I worked on the visuals of the game, inspiring myself off the art styles of Celeste and Neon Abyss.

Process

Originally, the game was supposed to be a 2D platformer wherein the player is jumping from roof to roof, trying to get from one side of the map to the other as the original concept had been inspired off of games like Super Mario and Celeste. However, the coder (Brandon) quickly realized the difficulty that would show within a web browser, so it was changed to an obstacle dodging game as the character flies up to a ship to escape.

Having done small odd jobs and projects for indie games, the process was relatively simple and easy to do. The only hard part was the background. Originally, the city was supposed to span the entire height of the game instead of turning into endless clouds before the final ship. However, due to the time constraints, it was changed to that.
